Teff straw biomass could fuel sustainable biofuel revolution
Researchers studied how to make sugar from Teff straw using a special acid process. They looked at the straw's makeup and used a method to find the best conditions for making the most sugar. The straw had a lot of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. By treating the straw with acid, they found it had more holes and was more organized. The acid process also made the straw more crystalline. After testing different conditions, they found the best way to make sugar from Teff straw. They got 26.65 mg of sugar for every gram of straw.
