Indonesia Faces Crisis as Plastic Pollution Threatens Marine Environment and Ecosystems
Marine pollution, especially from plastic waste, is a serious problem in Indonesia and globally. Plastic debris, including harmful microplastics, poses a threat to marine life and ecosystems. Indonesia is a major contributor to ocean plastic pollution, with the potential for more plastic than fish in the ocean if the issue is not addressed. Current methods for cleaning up the ocean are ineffective, so reducing plastic use is crucial. International and national cooperation and regulations are needed to protect marine environments. Land-based sources, such as urban and agricultural runoff, also contribute to marine pollution. Collaboration and regulations are essential to combat this global issue.
