Climate change and human activities impacting vegetation in China, study finds.
The study looked at how vegetation in China changed from 1998 to 2017 due to climate change and human activities. They used satellite data to track vegetation growth and a measure of drought. The results showed that most of China's vegetation improved, but some areas got worse. Climate change caused some areas to become drier, but overall, there wasn't a big drought problem. Human activities both hurt and helped vegetation. In areas with higher elevation and steep slopes, the link between vegetation and drought was stronger, while human impact was less. Future research should focus on specific regions in China to understand vegetation changes better.
