Toxic heavy metals found in Baikal Biosphere Reserve soil pose health risks.
The researchers studied the environment in the Baikal State Natural Biosphere Reserve to understand the soil, plants, and metals present. They found high levels of heavy metals like chromium, manganese, copper, and lead in the soil, exceeding safe limits. Pine trees in the area also showed high levels of cadmium and nickel. Regular monitoring of the area is recommended to protect the natural environment.
