Forest insurance program reduces wildfires and guarantees environmental services production.
Forest conservation and management can be improved by preventing wildfires through public policies. Socioeconomic factors play a significant role in wildfire occurrence. Forest insurance can reduce economic risks and ensure environmental services production. It incentivizes landowners to value environmental goods and services, leading to optimal forest rotation. A survey of landowners and forest managers showed a willingness to pay 3.64 €/Ha for forest insurance, influenced by insurance attributes and socioeconomic features.
