Refrigerators of the future: Eco-friendly coolants slash energy costs and emissions.
The scientists optimized a refrigeration system using different mixtures of refrigerants to improve its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. By increasing the amount of R32 in the mixture, they found that both the performance and cost were enhanced. The best results were achieved with pure R134a as the refrigerant. When using a mixture of R134a and R125, the system had the lowest efficiency. Overall, the system performed best when using a mixture of R410a, consisting of 50% R32 and 50% R125.
