New study reveals high soil erosion risks in Ethiopian watershed
Soil erosion is a big problem in Ethiopia's Rib watershed. The study used a model to figure out where erosion is happening and how much sediment is being carried away. Factors like plants, land shape, soil type, and weather affect erosion. By using this model with satellite data, the researchers found that the average annual soil loss was 25.53 tons per hectare. Erosion was worse in steep areas. The study helps identify places where better land management can reduce erosion.
