Boosting Millet Yields: Nitrogen and Biofertilizers Unlock Bountiful Harvests for Smallholder Farmers
The researchers studied how different levels of nitrogen and biofertilizers affect the growth and yield of Pearl millet. They tested nine treatments with varying nitrogen levels and biofertilizers. The treatment with 80:40:40 kg of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium along with Azotobacter and Azospirillum showed the best results. This treatment produced taller plants, more tillers and ears, higher grain and stover yields, and better economic returns compared to other treatments. Overall, combining nitrogen with specific biofertilizers led to higher productivity and profitability in growing Pearl millet.
