New measure of similarity for skewed probability distributions revolutionizes diverse disciplines!
A new way to measure similarity between different mixtures of probability distributions has been introduced. This measure, called skewed Jensen-Fisher divergence, helps in comparing the constituents of non-uniform mixtures. The researchers found that this measure is related to the skewed Jensen-Shannon divergence and variational distance. The results were obtained by using mathematical inequalities like the logarithmic Sobolev inequality and Poincaré inequality.
