New insulation technology slashes energy costs in hot climates by 16%
Building energy use in hot climates can be reduced by improving the insulation of the building envelope. A study in Egypt found that using Extruded polystyrene insulation (XPS) with a thickness of 25 mm can lead to a 16% reduction in HVAC energy consumption and an 8% decrease in overall energy usage. This improvement has a payback period of about 25 months and a 29% return on investment.
