China's Pollution Woes Shrink, but Uneven Progress Persists
The study analyzed air quality in Chinese cities from 2014 to 2019, focusing on pollutants like PM2.5 and NO2. Results showed air pollution decreased over the years, with PM2.5 being the main pollutant. Air quality was worse in the morning than in the evening. Pollution levels were higher in northern and inland areas. Industrial emissions, coal combustion, population density, and vehicle exhaust were major contributors to air pollution. Economic development helped reduce pollutant concentrations.
