Drought-Stricken Regions Boosted by Water-Saving Irrigation, Securing Food Supply
Water-saving irrigation in China helps save water and increase food crop production. By studying data from 31 provinces, researchers found that using water-saving irrigation not only conserves water but also boosts food crop output. Factors like sown area, fertilizer, and machinery play a role in this increase. Areas with less rainfall or lower water-saving rates benefit more from this irrigation method. Overall, promoting water-saving irrigation in China has significantly improved food crop production and helped ensure food security.
