Dairy Goat Sperm Revived with Antioxidant Boost, Boosting Fertility
Adding glutathione at a concentration of 2 mmol/l to frozen Guanzhong dairy goat semen improves sperm quality during cryopreservation. The researchers studied how different levels of glutathione affect sperm motility, acrosome, and plasma membrane integrity after thawing. They used various tests to measure these parameters and found that at 2 mmol/l, sperm viability, membrane integrity, acrosome integrity significantly increased. Antioxidant levels of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were higher, while levels of reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde were lower compared to the control group. Moreover, 2 mmol/l of glutathione improved sperm fertilization potential. In conclusion, adding 2 mmol/l glutathione to the semen diluent enhances the quality of frozen Guanzhong dairy goat sperm.
