New model predicts river flooding in Nepal, improving disaster preparedness.
The study focused on simulating runoff in the Bagmati River Basin in Nepal to understand flooding patterns. Researchers used a model called HIMS with data from 1980 to 2009. They found that the model worked well for monthly runoff but not as well for daily runoff. The correlation between observed and simulated data was strong for monthly runoff but weak for daily runoff. More weather station data could improve the daily simulation results.
