Climate boundaries shifting in Northwest China, impacting environment and development.
The study looked at how dry and wet climates have changed in Northwest China from 1960 to 2020. They found that overall, the region has become wetter over the past 61 years, but different areas have experienced different changes. The boundaries between dry and wet regions have shifted, with arid areas shrinking and semi-humid areas expanding. The climate in the western and central parts of the region has become warmer and wetter, while the eastern areas have become warmer and drier. These changes have led to a decrease in arid regions and an increase in humid regions in Northwest China.
