Late sowing dates drastically reduce wheat productivity under rising temperatures in Egypt.
The study looked at how different planting dates and temperature changes affect wheat growth in Upper Egypt. They tested 20 wheat varieties over two seasons and found that planting later after sugarcane harvest led to lower wheat yields. The best yield was from a variety called Gemmeiza11 when planted early, while Shandaweel1 did best when planted late. Overall, heat stress reduced wheat productivity, with some varieties being more tolerant to heat than others.
