China's Wind Speeds Decreasing, Strong Winds Vanishing, Weak Winds Rising
The study looked at wind speed changes in China from 1979 to 2019. They found that wind speeds in the north and east are higher than in the central and south. Wind speeds in spring are the fastest. Overall, wind speeds decreased from 1979 to 1999 but increased after 2000. Strong winds decreased more than weak winds, leading to the overall trend. The changes in wind speed are influenced by both U and V wind components, with zonal wind affected by changes in upper westerly winds and temperature differences between high and low latitudes.
