Micronutrient fertilization boosts groundnut yield and profits on Indian sandy soils.
Groundnut yields in India are often low due to micronutrient deficiencies. A study in Andhra Pradesh tested different ways of adding micronutrients to groundnut crops. They found that using a combination of Zinc, Boron, and Iron fertilizers along with regular fertilization led to the best growth and highest yields. This method resulted in taller plants, more branches, and higher yields of pods and overall groundnut production. Applying all micronutrients through the soil was more effective than using them as foliar sprays. This approach also gave the highest profits compared to other methods tested.
