Microalgae-based aviation fuel could revolutionize air travel, but standards need updating.
The study used a new method to choose the best microalgae for making aviation biofuel. They looked at 17 different strains and found that Chlorella sp. NT8a is the most suitable for making fuel. However, the biofuel from this strain doesn't meet all the standards for jet fuel. This means that we need to improve how we make biofuel from microalgae and maybe change the rules for jet fuel to use this new kind of fuel in airplanes.
