Climate Change to Hike Electricity Bills Across South Korea
This article looks at how changes in temperature affect electricity use in different sectors in South Korea. They found that the amount of electricity used by homes, businesses, industries, and farms changes with the temperature, but each sector responds differently. When it's hotter, residential electricity use goes up, while commercial and industrial use increases in both hot and cold weather. Farms mainly use more electricity when it's cold. By predicting future changes, they estimate that with a 2°C temperature rise, electricity use in summer will go up for homes, businesses, and farms. However, costs will also increase as demand rises. Overall, as temperatures increase, more electricity will be needed, especially during hot months like August.
