Auditors with IT backgrounds can use technology to improve audit efficiency, leading to lower audit fees but potentially lower audit quality. Clients audited by IT-skilled auditors from top firms paid lower fees. New IT-related auditing standards in China have led to higher fees for IT-skilled auditors, but also improved audit quality.
