Mutant T-lymphocytes in humans distort mutation frequency calculations, study finds.
The study looked at how mutations in T-lymphocytes can affect the calculated mutation frequency in humans. They used a cell cloning assay to measure the frequency of mutant cells and analyzed the T-cell receptor gene rearrangement pattern to determine clonality. They found that mutant clonality is common in individuals, but it only significantly impacted the mutation frequency in samples with high mutant frequencies.
