Degradation of Loess Plateau Vegetation Threatens Ecosystem Balance and Biodiversity.
The Loess Plateau's natural vegetation has been damaged by human activities, leading to the loss of original plants. There are five main vegetation zones on the plateau, ranging from forests to deserts. The dominant tree species in the forest areas is Quercus liaotungensis, while Robinia pseudoacacia and Pinus tabulaeformis are commonly planted in artificial forests. Robinia pseudoacacia is not native to China, unlike Pinus tabulaeformis, which is found naturally in central and northern China. The vegetation changes from forest to desert as you move from southeast to northwest on the plateau.
