Relational Databases Empower Mini-Computers, Revolutionizing Data Access for All
The researchers aimed to create a database management system for a small computer at a specific university. They used a new method where data is organized in tables with rows (called tuples) and columns (called attributes), unlike older scattered models. This new approach allows for simpler data searches based on specific values. While not as fast as older methods, it offers more flexibility in managing and exploring the database. The study shows that this relational approach could work well on smaller computers, like the one at Florida A&M University.
