Biochar boosts crop yield and cuts greenhouse gases in tropical agriculture
Intensive farming has harmed soil in many places, making it hard to grow crops well. Biochar, a special type of carbon-rich material made from waste, can help improve soil quality and boost crop production. Researchers studied six farms in tropical Australia growing bananas, sugarcane, corn, peanuts, and pawpaws. They found that using biochar or biochar mixed with compost can change crop growth, greenhouse gas emissions, and soil health. This shows that biochar could be a useful tool for farmers in tropical areas to improve their soil and increase crop yields.
