Weed management in direct seeded rice fields is a big challenge due to high weed pressure. Farmers are using an integrated approach that includes different control measures to tackle this issue sustainably. New herbicides like sulfonylurea, diquat, and glyphosate are being used instead of older ones to prevent herbicide resistance in weeds. To make weed management more eco-friendly and cost-effective, methods like using competitive rice varieties, seed priming, and higher seeding density are being considered. Further research is needed on the biology and ecology of common rice weeds to develop better weed management strategies.
