Changing climate patterns in China shift rainfall, impacting agriculture and water resources.
The study looked at changes in the West Pacific Subtropical High area and summer rainfall in China over 57 years. They found that the area of the high-pressure system increased, especially in the mid-1960s and late 1990s, due to global warming. This led to weaker East Asian monsoons and a shift in rainfall patterns from southern to northern China. Summer precipitation increased in the north and decreased in the south, with a northward trend over time.
