Global agriculture expansion threatens bioenergy potential by 2030.
The study looked at how changes in farming and food choices could affect the potential for using plants as energy sources in the future. Different scenarios were used to predict what might happen by 2030. If current trends continue, there may not be enough land available for growing bioenergy crops. But if livestock productivity increases slightly and people eat less red meat, more land could be used for bioenergy. This could lead to a decrease in the amount of land needed for agriculture by 2030.
