Longer military deployments linked to increased mental health issues for soldiers.
The study looked at how military deployment history affects the mental health of soldiers. They studied over 57,000 soldiers returning from a NATO mission in the former Yugoslavia. Soldiers on longer deployments were more likely to show signs of mental health issues. Soldiers with previous deployment experience had lower rates of mental health problems, but only if their deployment was short. This shows that the length of deployment can impact a soldier's mental well-being.
