Optimal Conditions for Sunray Surf Clam Larvae Growth and Survival
The researchers studied how different rearing conditions and types of microalgae affect the growth and survival of sunray surf clam larvae. They found that higher temperatures led to faster growth but lower survival rates, with the best results seen at 23°C. The larvae thrived best in water with a salinity of 30-35 parts per thousand. When fed a mix of Isochrysis galbana, Pavlova lutheri, Isochrysis sp. (green), and Chlorella ellipsoidea, the larvae showed the highest growth and survival rates. Overall, a diet including Isochrysis galbana and Isochrysis sp. (green) was found to be the most beneficial for the larvae's growth and survival.
