Eroded cinnamon forest soils reveal urgent need for soil liming.
The study looked at soil acidity in eroded cinnamon forest soils. They measured pH, aluminum, hydrogen, and manganese levels in the soil. They also checked for calcium and magnesium, which can neutralize harmful acidity. By analyzing the data, they figured out how much lime the soil needed. The most eroded areas had the most variation in acidity, while areas with clay on the surface needed the most lime. Applying lime to neutralize harmful elements in the soil required high amounts in some cases, up to 6000 kg per hectare.
