Soil water retention curves are important for farming and construction, but measuring them directly is expensive. Researchers in the Czech Republic used a method called pedotransfer functions to estimate these curves for a specific area. They found that using data from that area specifically gave more accurate results than using general equations. Knowing the saturated soil water content helped improve the estimates. This method can be useful for estimating soil water retention curves in areas where data is limited.
