Yam-Maize Intercropping Boosts Productivity and Profits for Ghanaian Farmers
A study in Ghana looked at different ways of growing yams with other crops. They found that growing yams alone usually gave more yams than growing them with other crops, except for cowpeas. The best combination was yams with cowpeas, which was the most productive. Yams with maize were the most profitable. Overall, cowpeas and maize were the best crops to grow with yams in this area.
