Dominant fish species identified in Baro basin, impacting local ecosystems.
The researchers studied the diversity and abundance of fish in different water bodies in the Baro basin, Ethiopia. They used various methods to catch fish and identified 51 species from 20 families. Mormyridae was the most common family, with Barbus prince and Oreochromis niloticus being the most dominant species. The study found that O. niloticus was the most abundant species in the area. The researchers recommend further research to better understand the fish diversity in the basin and to ensure sustainable use of fish resources.
