The article discusses the operating experience of dry cooling towers in Europe. Representatives from major plants and equipment manufacturers were interviewed to gather information. The study focused on plant selection based on thermal capacity and length of service. A questionnaire was used to collect operational data in nine categories. Codes and standards were used to ensure cooling tower performance. Metallographic analysis was conducted on finned-tube samples. European technical societies and research establishments provided information on operating experience and technology. The study aimed to provide updated and representative European experience with dry cooling towers, showing that dry cooling is a reliable technology applicable to U.S. operating requirements.
