New auction method simplifies internet bandwidth allocation, ensuring fair access.
A new method called Uniform-Price Auction (UPA) has been proposed for managing scarce network resources in the Internet. This auction rule is simple and has been proven to be incentive compatible in the network environment. The researchers also extended this method to support applications that require minimum bandwidth guarantees for a given time period by introducing a derivative market. This market mechanism for network resource allocation is predictable, riskless, and simple for end-users.
