Optimizing Nitrogen and Sulphur Boosts Onion Growth and Quality.
A study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen and sulfur affect the growth, yield, and quality of onions. They tested three levels of nitrogen and four levels of sulfur on onion plants. The results showed that using 120 kg of nitrogen per hectare and 60 kg of sulfur per hectare led to the tallest plants, the most leaves, and the biggest bulbs. These plants also had the highest bulb yield, the sweetest taste, and the most pyruvic acid. This combination of nitrogen and sulfur also resulted in the highest income for farmers.
