Rainfall can make embankment slopes collapse. The angle of the slope matters. If it's steeper than the soil's friction angle, the soil suction loss causes failure. If it's shallower, positive pore water pressure at the slope's base causes failure. Steeper slopes are more likely to suddenly collapse during rain.
