Boost Wheat Yields with Bed Planting and Lower Seed Rates
Planting wheat using a bed system with 75 kg of seeds and 120 kg of nitrogen per hectare can result in higher grain yield compared to conventional sowing methods. The study found that bed planting at 75 kg seed rate produced more spikes per meter, grains per spike, and overall grain yield. This approach was as effective as using 100 kg of seeds with bed planting or 150 kg of nitrogen with conventional sowing. Therefore, for sustainable wheat yield, using the 'PBW 343' variety at 75 kg seed rate and 120 kg nitrogen per hectare with bed planting is recommended.
