Permeable pavement saves 70% potable water by using stormwater for fire protection
Stormwater collected from a permeable pavement can be used to save potable water in buildings. By using this stormwater for fire extinguishing systems and non-potable uses like flushing toilets and watering gardens, over 70% of potable water can be saved. The study found that stormwater can fully supply the building on 83.9% of days in a year, making it an effective way to increase water savings.
