New Kenaf Hybrids Show Promise for Higher Fibre and Seed Yields!
Researchers studied different kenaf genotypes to improve yield under tropical conditions. They created hybrids through mating and analyzed 15 yield traits. Additive genes played a significant role in inheritance, influenced by the environment. Some traits showed both additive and non-additive gene effects. Certain parental lines were identified as good combiners for yield traits. Specific crosses were found to have promising results for higher fibre, stick, and seed yield, suggesting potential for future kenaf breeding programs.
