New climate-sensitive models revolutionize forest management and ecosystem services projections.
The article presents models that predict how forests in Spain will change over time due to different management strategies and climate conditions. These models were created using data from over 50,000 forest plots and 800,000 trees. The researchers developed 182 models for tree growth and survival for 27 species. They used these models to simulate how forests in Catalonia would change under various climate and management scenarios. The results provide a useful tool for predicting how forests in Spain may be affected by climate change and different management practices.
