Trawling ban leads to larger, healthier European hake in Mediterranean Sea.
A study looked at how a ban on trawling affects the growth of young European hake in the Mediterranean Sea. They compared fish from three areas, one of which had a trawling ban for 15 years. The fish in the area with the ban were bigger and in better condition. The growth of the fish was similar in all areas, but those in the untrawled area started off larger and grew better in the early stages of life.
