Occupant-centric controls in hotels could slash HVAC energy use by 58%!
The study looked at how using sensors and controls based on occupants' presence can save energy in large hotels. Different scenarios were simulated to see how much energy could be saved with these technologies. The results showed that using occupant-centric controls could reduce HVAC energy use by 24% to 58%, depending on the type of sensor, climate zone, and building code version. Additionally, using sensors that count occupants could save an extra 5% to 15% of energy compared to just presence sensors.
