Unlocking the Potential of Algae: New Cultivation Method Boosts Biomass Yield
Microalgae like Chlorella can grow better and produce more useful substances when given glucose in addition to light. By testing different cultivation methods, researchers found that mixotrophic conditions with 15-20 g/L glucose were best for increasing biomass yield and improving lipid and pigment content in Chlorella strains. This means that growing Chlorella with both light and glucose can enhance the quality and quantity of the biomass produced.
