Mars B Storms: Intense Dust and Warming Could Impact Future Colonization
The B storm is a big dust storm on Mars that happens every year over the south pole. It gets really strong around summer and makes the air warmer. The dust in the storm triples, reaching over 4 parts per million and even 10 parts per million at its peak. Scientists used a computer model to study the storm and found that the dust gets lifted up high by big bursts of wind, forming layers that float for about a day before falling back down. They made cool animations to show how the dust moves during the storm.
