Automated Drip Irrigation Boosts Tomato Yields, Slashes Water Use by Over 50%
An experiment was done to see how different automated drip irrigation systems affect tomato plants in Tamil Nadu. They tested five methods, including time-based, volume-based, soil moisture sensor-based, and switching tensiometer-based irrigation. The results showed that the tensiometer-based system gave the highest fruit yield and water use efficiency, saving up to 60.55% of water compared to the traditional method. This means that using the right automated drip irrigation system can help tomatoes grow better and save water.
