Rainwater Harvesting Slashes Runoff and Boosts Water Security in Arid Regions
Low impact development techniques were studied in arid regions to see how well they work. Rainwater harvesting was found to be the most effective technique for managing stormwater and improving water quality. In a case study in Varamin, Iran, using rainwater tanks reduced water runoff and suspended solids by around 40%. This technique can also help meet water needs during dry months and conserve water in areas with limited water resources.
