China's Megaregions Redefine Economic Powerhouses with New Spatial Boundaries
Globalization and informatization have changed the global economy, leading to the rise of megaregions. By analyzing highway traffic data between cities in China, researchers identified 21 megaregions, including the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. They found that central and eastern China have more and denser megaregions compared to the western region. The study offers a new way to understand the spatial boundaries and structures of megaregions in China.
