Logging Intensity Impacts Forest Recovery Time, Longer Cycles Needed for Sustainability.
The study looked at how different logging intensities affect the health of forests in Indonesia Borneo. They found that reduced impact logging can help forests recover faster, but a cutting cycle of 22 years is not sustainable. After the first logging, the forest can recover in about 35 years, but after the second logging, it may take up to 42.8 years. This means that longer cutting cycles of around 57.3 to 63.2 years are needed for sustainable forest management.
